The Normal-Sized Pig and the Big Bad Wolf

Posted by Surn - August 18th, 2024

There once was a normal-sized pig who wanted a home to call his own.

He was nowhere near lazy enough to even consider building a home with sticks or hay and bricks: he didn't particularly care for the aesthetic.

So he decided to build his house out of nice, sturdy logs at the edge of the forest near a stream.

For weeks he toiled away, chopping, hauling, measuring, cutting, planing, placing, nailing, building.

After 4 long weeks he stood back to admire the fine log cabin his hooves had made.

Out of the corner of his eye he caught the big bad wolf trying to sneak up on him. He dove into his house and locked the door just in time.

"Mister Pig, Mister Pig, let me come in!" Said the wolf.

"Just cut to the chase and try to blow down my house! It won't work!" Said the normal-sized pig.

The wolf sneered at the pig's insolence. He took a great breath and blew with the force of a hurricane. The house creaked and groaned as the trees behind swayed. But the house stood firm. The wolf tried again and again but to no avail.

"Ha, is that all you got?"

The wolf smirked.

"I've been holding onto something for just an occasion."

The wolf walked to the side of the house, pulled out a match, and lit it.

"Go ahead and try it! I treated this wood with..."

The wolf unleashed the mother of all farts onto the match which turned into a massive torrent of fire, engulfing the home. The wolf sustained it for nearly ten seconds. The squealing of the pig could scarcely be heard over the deafening roar.

At the edge of the woods, near a stream with, charred grass on either side, smouldered the blackened remains of a log cabin. In the middle was a normal sized pig....

... cooked to perfection.

The moral:

  1. While it is important to work hard it is also important to choose the right thing to work hard at.
  2. You don't necessarily have to work hard to accomplish something that pays off.
