Before I begin I should probably tell you what I'm doing.

In a nutshell I am making a 30 second sprite short. What's different from other sprite shorts is that I'm making everything myself and I'm not using any of the trademarked characters sprite flash fans know and adore (If you want to see a sample of my work see Carrotoid) . This will be introducing my character, Russio doing a number of off the wall actions in 9 scenes consisting of mostly 3 seconds each. Russio's appearance will not be revealed until the Newgrounds edition is complete.

This log was moved over from my blog since it didn't seem to be getting any traffic.

Onto this weeks log:
Scene 6 was finished quicker than I expected so I effectively put the rest of the project aside for the rest of the week. This scene consists of Russio being sent skyward riding a straight tetris block. He starts off with a skater-esque pose then launches himself off the block and lands in a wooded area.

Today (May 24th) I posted a flash I called "Eyesoap (0m18s). After it made its way through the "Latest Submissions" it ended with a score of 2.09 after I voted it up from 2.04. My personal standard is 2.50 or higher so I erased it.

Lessons learned:
- Make longer flashes
- Try to improve audio quality

Special thanks to those who reviewed it.

The Plot Against Mario Fandom was an animutation made to ReRicked by KgZ. This was the first thing I submitted to Newgrounds and It did quite poorly at somewhere below 2.00 before I voted it up while no one was paying attention (which ended around 2.19 which still isn't that good). Now I have decided not to keep any animation that falls below 2.50 on Newgrounds in hopes of making a good reputation for myself as an animator. The Plot Against Mario Fandom does not meet this requirement so it has been removed.

However you can still view it on the Animutation Portal here. While the Animutation Portal version has bonus features the window size is wrong.

How do you make a game that is "family friendly" but appeals to adults more than kids?

Edit: No, I don't know the answer.

Obligatory Picture:

Does anybody have the answer to this riddle?

Use of "lol" is inversely porportional to one's intelligence.

I'm not too sure on this one, I could be wrong. From my perspective, people who frequently say "lol" don't strike me as very bright.

Any thoughts on this? If I'm right this could definitely use re-wording to make it flow better.

And here's a picture because pictures are fun.

Use of "lol" vs. intellect quote.

Up-a-notch has agreed to work with me on a game. I just finished the second enemy: Horkey the Cat. In the game he should be shooting hairballs out of his mouth.

This character goes by the name Mutt, which is what the locals refer to him.

Hopefully, he'll be featured in a game that up-a-notch offered to help me make.

Edit: Ugh, I can't post it here because the animated GIF is too big. Here's the link to the image

Proverbs 27:15-16 (NIV)

15 A quarrelsome wife is like
a constant dripping on a rainy day;

16 restraining her is like restraining the wind
or grasping oil with the hand.

It's open to interpretation...
